{ Dress The Rainbow (DAY 539) }

IMG_6451Hey friends! Sorry I’ve been MIA lately.  There’s been a lot going on and I just needed a break.  During the last few weeks though one of my best friends and I have joined Brittany’s (from The House that Lars Built) instagram contest to #dresstherainbow.  Basically we were supposed to go find colored walls and then snap pictures of ourselves wearing the same shade of clothing.

Thankfully my girl Malia is amazing and was totally up for this fun adventure with me.  Tripod in hand and melting in the heat we took photos all over the neighborhood and city.  Yes, we got stared at.  Yes, there were embarrassing moments.  Yes, running back and forth from the tripod to a pose gets interesting.  Yes, we changed in the car sometimes.  Yes, we laughed our heads off.  Yes, it was totally worth it even if we don’t win.  (But let’s be honest…we REALLY hope we win!)

Also here’s a funny side note about the pink picture from Malia’s perspective: “You know that moment when you burst into laughter with your friend because something weird just happened?  Well this is ours. 🙂 @Misselaini had her fingers on the bow of her dress to show off the stylish 50’s vintage dress that her mother wore growing up and I thought, ‘I’m going to join in accentuating the bow.’  I reached out my hand to the bow and Elaini matter-of-factly says, ‘Malia you’re going to make me look pregnant.’ This pictures was the result.” 😉

It’s amazing how much color there is around us if we will only look for it.  I’m curious to know…what fun summer adventures have you had?  Did you have any that were so enjoyable and memory making but didn’t cost any money?

    not nearly as stylish as what you show here (VERY nice work, in every respect), but three men (including myself) and ten children under eleven years of age spent Labor Day afternoon on a hike up to a waterfall, out past Multnomah Falls, Got stuck in traffic so we had to sit… and still had fun in the car. On the hike, one little girl began to freak out on the trail… “I’m scawed”. Her Daddy encouratged her, got a bit firm wiht her to conquer her fear, to trust the Lord fo her safety, and we got to the waterfall itself. After watcning some of the bigger kids scrambling over the steep slopes of large, wet scree to get near the spray, she decied she didn’t want to get left out, and made her way over. I decided to join them, and when it was time to come back, the litle girl (about 5) began to get a bit skittish.. the rocks were large, loose, huge tree trunks and logs to get around… but I stayed with her and we chatted, Ihept going, scrambling will over the chaos….. never hiesitated, did it like she’d done it every day for months. Her Daddy had some fine words of praise and encouragement when she got back to where he was…. the older girls with their gorgeous long hair nad stood closely enough to the falls they had gotten “rained on”, and they thought that was hilarious. So we all went back home and ate barbecued pork chops and played games (the porkchops were not free, so that part almost doesn’t count…..). More folks joined us back at te house for a very wonderful time with froends, old and new. (one met for the first time yesterday, another just born three weeks ago, and some I’ve known it seems forever(.

    What a cute idea! I love this. There’s nothing quite like photo shoots in the city. 🙂

      Thank you! We didn’t win because she put everyone’s names in a hat and drew from that but we had a great time doing this!
