I looked straight into his crystal clear sky blue eyes and said, “Don’t look down, just keep your eyes on me.” He kept his gaze fixed on mine. And he took off. My feet pounded the pavement in front of him and his pressed into the peddles as he listened to my encouragement. Yesterday I had the pure delight of watching my little man (aka nephew) learn to ride his bike. It was thrilling and so amazing to watch as he experienced the joy of riding on his own. I may be almost 23 but I saw myself in small child form today as I reflected on my own journey. Psalm 34:5 says, “Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.” Keeping my gaze fixed on God and pressing on and into him. That is how I do this. That is how I stay the course. Like my nephew I will experience joy if I do this, but it will be joy in the fullest sense. I can feel it especially when I consider that little ones like my nephew can be rescued and given true joy as we raise this gift of money for them.

You’re a talented writer, Elain! 🙂 I enjoy your written pictures almost as much as the visual ones!
Thank you Heidi. I don’t feel that writing is my strong point…so I appreciate the encouragement.
Elain, I just wanted to tell you how much you’ve inspired me. I was in the middle of a thrift shopping spree to build my summer wardrobe when we experienced an abrupt decline in funds – in other words, I had to make do with what I had. On my last trip I’d found a simple, black, knit dress. Your blog inspired me and I’m challenging myself to wear it every Sunday for a month – maybe the rest of the summer! I’m having a blast and you’re to thank for it.
P.S. I love your eye makeup here and on day 5 – any tips for getting this look?
I loved your comment! That is just great that you are having fun with it. 🙂 Isn’t it neat to get your creative juices blending up a fabulous concoction? I wish I could see your outfits!
The eye makeup is basically a smoky eye using champagne, slate, and black eye shadow. It’s pretty easy. Just put it in the right spot and blend, blend, blend!
Thanks for the tips! I absolutely love stopping by here each day!
This one is my favourite outfit!
I REALLY loved this one too. I felt so feminine in that skirt. 🙂
