To say that I am completing college in an unconventional way would be an understatement. When I was sixteen I started earning college credit right out of high school, but then I got sick and laid in bed for four years. For the last four years I have been continuing to try and earn my BA. I’ve taken classes but I have also tested out of quite a few subjects to save myself time and money. About two weeks ago I took another really important test. If I passed I would receive three semester credits. No pressure… Unlike the past ten tests I have taken this one was not electronic so I was unable to receive my score right away. I actually had to wait for a piece of regular mail to come to my door. They said it would take four weeks, but I was praying it would come sooner. When I opened the mail box yesterday and saw the letter laying there I was both nervous and excited. I tore it open and stared at the paper like it was in another language. Then there it was. The score showing that I had definitely passed. Was I ever excited!!! Today’s Thankful30:
Day 15: Praise to Jesus for helping me pass this big test and for all the people who prayed for me while I was testing. 😀 Sigh of relief!
Considering your circumstances and your health challenges many wouldn’t take the challenge to persevere, especially in a fast paced culture that wants instant fulfillment.
I have watched you consistently push yourself by God’s grace toward this goal that I believe you will achieve. I’m very proud of you and God’s work of grace in your life. Keep moving forward Miss Elaini!
Thank you for encouraging me to not give up and to keep on working toward this goal. I love you!
Congratulations on passing the test, Elaini!! I, too, am a distance-learning (CollegePlus!) student, so I know how it feels to take tests, although I have not yet taken any for which I had to wait to get my score. I can only imagine the agony of that! But then, the joy of finding out you passed would be just as much greater. 🙂
Thanks for sharing your joys, great and small!
Thank you! Have you taken the CLEP? That’s normally what I do. I tried not to think about it too much and that helped! Thanks for being willing to join me on this journey. 🙂
Yes, I have taken a number of CLEPs. I’m studying for the Humanities one right now. I haven’t taken any DSSTs yet, but they are on my degree plan, so I’ll get to them eventually. Right now I am mostly dreading getting to the College Composition CLEP! (It takes me forever to write essays…)
It is my pleasure to join you on this journey, just as it has been my pleasure to follow your blog for the past year. 🙂 Keep pressing on!!
