{Day 124}

Yesterday evening my dad and I grabbed a blanket and went to the park to hear jazz.  A few friends of mine showed up and joined us and we swing danced on the lawn.  The band played, we danced, and we people watched.  Don’t you just love people watching?  Not in a creepy stalker way of course.  Not (of course) in a “Didn’t your mother teach you not to stare?” type of way.  Hey we were just being observant that’s all. 😉  Some of the older couples were just adorable.  One older gentleman had a hat on and was salsa dancing with his wife.  To cute.  I loved how the children had no inhibitions.  They didn’t care what they looked like and they were just having fun.  Are you the type that jumps in and dances through life or would you rather sit and watch?  I used to be the later but I am growing and learning the beauty of being like a child and not caring what others think.  (Growing is a key word…I have by NO means arrived.)  🙂  Love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

UPDATE: Think we can get to the $35K mark today?  Look we are almost there!!! $34,979.60 😀

That’s so fun! Sometimes I care and sometimes I don’t, it depends on who I am with. Isn’t that case a lot? 😉

I LOVE your outfit today, that color is really attractive on you. Hooray for the total! God is answering prayers. It is so encouraging to get on here every day and see your smiling face plus the rising total. God is good.

That is the case a lot of times but I’m trying to not make it the case. 😉
I am so delighted you like the outfit. I love jewel tone colors…
I am having so much fun watching the total go up. It’s amazing!

    Dear Elaini,
I’m sorry to say I’m extremely shy and I’d rather watch dancing I don’t like to have people watch me dance of course I’m always willing to dance with a little one. I’m not sure in everyday life I want to make a difference being ultra shy is not a good thing I want to get out there and help people I want to take a leap of faith and see if I can break out of this shyness something only God can help me do. oh Elaini I just love your blog your so fun!
    Yours Truly

      Dear Poem Girl,
Its ok. It takes time. Make little goals for yourself at first. Once you get in the habit of stretching yourself it becomes a little bit easier. And remember: If you love God your identity is in him. Not what anyone else thinks. Praying you will take that leap of faith! So blessed that you like the blog. 🙂

Thank you!!!! You’re so sweet. 🙂 I just got those shoes and I really like them. 🙂 The one smaller bracelet is my mom’s but originally it was my great grandmothers bracelet. 😀

If I was sitting in the park and people were dancing, I garentee you that my heart would be screaming, “Go girl and live a little! You’ve only got one life, why not dance it away!” But I have to be honest, most likely, I would sit there and watch, yearning to go out and dance. I have never been one to throw caution to the wind like that, but I’m praying that God would give me (and all of us!) that childlike spirit. So we can dance to this beautiful music called life that He gave us. I’m sure He would rather see us dance than sit on the sidelines.

Reminds me of the song “I hope you dance” 🙂

        Dancin’ for Jesus! =D

I love to dance. You know the dances from Emma? I do those. It is so awesome.

As far as being shy goes…well, I tend to be a bold type of person. When I was 8 (and really bored :D) I was in Disney World at night waiting for the fireworks to start. In my mind it was taking FOREVER! 😛 Anyway, I decided to get up on a table and start dancing. At 8 I was fine with all the people looking at me…but now, I would have died a million deaths!!!! Thought someone might enjoy that silly story. 🙂

Ahh I have always wanted to learn how to do those!!! Someday I must get you to teach me. 🙂
Love the story dear. I bet you made so many people happy.

Well, I think that as I grow older I am learning to be a better “dancer” when it comes to enjoying life. My mom is one of those people who is pretty accomplished at “dancing” in life. The two of us come up with crazy ideas like Christmas caroling in July. 🙂 Perhaps we should do a few more of our “crazy” ideas. 🙂

I think when we learn how to “dance” in life not only do we have fun but those who are watching enjoy themselves too and that they are encouraged to “dance” more in their own lives. Like you, Elaini, it’s a growing process for me too. 🙂 Thanks for challenging us to think about life a little differently today!

    • misselaini September 1, 2011 at 9:37 pm #

Oooh that is a fun idea. 🙂 I have a friend who “dances” through life and she comes up with some really great ideas.
      I need the reminder myself….

Dancing! 🙂 How fun! I know how to square-dance and do English Country Dancing.

People-watching can be fun. How funny that you should mention this, ’cause I just told my older sis today that “I love people watching!”

    • misselaini September 1, 2011 at 9:38 pm #

It is fun. And good exercise too. 🙂

I am feeling a bit enchanted by Portland now – jazz and swing dancing in the park is like an ethereal dream to me. So old world and charming. Wish we had that here. Can’t really think of any other reasons why not to come to Portland now (not that I could before anyway.)

P.S Looking as lovely as always.

    • misselaini September 4, 2011 at 11:42 pm #

Yay! It is all part of my plan to get you over here sooner. 😉

      • Elizabeth Fay September 6, 2011 at 5:38 pm #
