{Day 122}

Let me just quickly say that I forgot to mention yesterday how lovely I think the picture is that I received.Β  Somebody is a little artist. πŸ™‚Β  Anyways I went to the post office yesterday to check the box I set up for this project and although I didn’t expect to receive anything I hoped there would be a letter.Β  Sure enough there was. πŸ™‚Β  It was the sweetest little note with $40 dollars inside for the orphans.Β  Even better.Β  One of the best things about this project has been the kind comments, encouraging emails, questions, and especially the mail.Β  There is just something so delightful about receiving a letter.Β  Thank you to everyone that has made my day a little brighter because of a comment, email, or letter.Β  I love hearing from you!Β  Do you like getting mail (real mail. bills don’t count…)?Β  Do you send letters through snail mail?Β  I have a box full of letters that I have received over the years.Β  Do you?Β  Love to hear about it in the comments!

UPDATE: $34,889.60 πŸ™‚ We are almost to the 35K mark!!!! Woo Hoo!!!! Want to donate and get us there?Β  πŸ™‚

Yes, getting letters/cards in the mail brings a smile to my face. πŸ™‚ It is so fun to see my name written on an envelope and know there is a treasure waiting for me inside of it. I too have a collection of letters/cards that have piled up over the years. It is fun to read through them and remember. Writing letters has been something I have done since I was a little girl.

Thanks for posting on here Elaini. I have been really encouraged by the Lord through you. πŸ™‚

Yes it is fun to see that writing on a card. πŸ™‚ I love that you have been writing cards since you were little.
So glad you have been encouraged. πŸ™‚

A dear friend of mine and I have been writing letters to one another for the past two years. Already we have over 80 letters. I find that in writing letters, I am able to better express myself than in a quick email. There is something very special about receiving an actual letter with someone else’s handwriting on it. Each person has their own style and it is enjoyable to see that style desplayed on the page. Those are some of my thoughts on letter writing. πŸ˜€

WOW. I wish someone would write me that many although I don’t think I would be as good about responding! lol! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. I agree that there is something so uniquely wonderful about a hand written note. πŸ™‚

Well, answering them all is the tricky part…I actually have a letter sitting in my end table that needs to be responded to. I think I am inspired to reply back tonight. πŸ˜›

I have had nearly 10 pen pals at once. One time when my family had to relocate for 9 months my friends and I wrote letters back and forth. I have saved each one of them as a remembrance of how precious those letters were to me.

We used to have our dolls “write” letters, I have made up codes and written in them. Writing is such a precious gift, and one that should not be taken lightly.

Yeah! The total is going up again!

    • misselaini August 30, 2011 at 2:56 pm #

That is a lot to keep up with! That is so cute that your dolls would “write” to each other. I remember doing things like that with some of my pen palls when I was younger. It is a precious gift to be able to write. πŸ™‚

Oh thank you dear. That is so sweet of you! I can’ wait to read your poem. πŸ™‚
I think you should write poems about what you love or issues you want to talk about. Just think, Paradice Lost is an epic poem. πŸ™‚

Yes! I love getting letters in the mail! I have several people that I write letters to almost weekly. One person in particular holds a special place in my heart; she is an elderly lady who was the one person who treated me “normally” (I guess you could say) when I first became ill. And now I must have a million letters from her! She is such a dear lady, and an amazing blessing from God.

I’m so happy to hear that the total is going up! And quickly too! πŸ˜€ God is so good, isn’t He?!

    • misselaini August 30, 2011 at 3:10 pm #

You are so faithful! That is impressive. I want to be pen pals with that lady! She sounds wonderful. πŸ™‚
      Yes God is good!

  8. Lauren August 30, 2011 at 2:01 pm #

I have a box or 2 of cards, but not letters. I suppose the letters are inside the cards, haha. *shrug*
In other news I LOVE LOVE LOVE that color of lipstick on you!

    • misselaini August 30, 2011 at 3:16 pm #

      They totally count. πŸ™‚
And that is so sweet of you to notice my lipstick. I don’t wear red very often but I really want to have the confidence to wear it more. Do you wear red lipstick? πŸ™‚
(apparently any skin tone type can pull off red it just depends what shade)

      • Lauren August 30, 2011 at 3:46 pm #

Every once in a blue moon, when I’m feeling glamorous, I put on a deep red lipstick. But otherwise, I’m a pink gloss kind of gal πŸ™‚

        • misselaini August 30, 2011 at 9:43 pm #

Hmm we should both purpose to feel more glamourous and wear red! (my mom is always telling me to put on lipstick) In reality though I also am a pink gloss lady. πŸ™‚

I adore snail-mail and use it way more than e-mail or telephone! It’s such fun that my closest friend and I write letters back and forth- we live in the same town and see each other three times a week :)!

    • misselaini August 30, 2011 at 3:18 pm #

You really do use mail a lot! That’s wonderful. I tend to communicate the most on the internet because it is so fast….

First of all, when I saw your hair, I thought “Wow, I like her hair today!”
I love getting letters in the mail! I can’t wait to see what the person says!
I like your outfit as a whole, and I LOVE your skirt and leggings.
When I check each day I hope that you’ve gotten more donations! You’re doing really well. πŸ™‚
