{Day 128}

I went shopping for pants.  Jeans in particular.  That means it was an event.  If you are a girl you get this.  If you are a guy listen up because you should understand this too.  So I grabbed several pairs of pants to try on and went to the dressing room.  Let me just stop right here and say WHAT IS WITH THOSE ROOMS?!?!?  I mean seriously.  You’d think they are trying to make you leave without buying anything.  For reals.  The lighting always makes you look like death warmed over and lets not even get started with the mirrors!  O.K. back to the pants.  Yah know if you have to dance to get into your jeans well…they are probably a little to tight.  Just maybe???  Then there are the ones you put on and think look all cute until you…turn around.  Let’s just say that as a general rule sagging should never be a term used while shopping.  If you hear it run away from that pair.  So after maybe the 98th pair of jeans you finally slip into a pair that fits just right.  You hear yourself give a sigh of relief and then you look at the price tag…and.have.a.heart.attack.  Thud.  Now what?  My thought is “I’m going to have to sell a kidney to buy this pair of jeans!!!”  So I walk out of the dressing room and hand over the rejects (she about falls over from the stack. yes it is that big).  So that is why it’s epic.  And why I left without ANYTHING.  The only thing worse to shop for is a bathing suit… Guys this is why we spend so much time shopping. 🙂  Have compassion please. 😉  Maybe I should just go back to wearing my dress… 😉

P.S.  On a totally different topic…I am feeling that this next $15K is going to be challenging to raise.  You with me on getting this goal met??  O.K.  Thanks you wonderful people!

    That is so true!!
( Where do you get all of your adorable dresses??)

They are from all over! Most of them I have had for years now…This one my brother bought me for my birthday 3 years ago. 😀

Here’s a tip…always check the price tag first! 😀 My Mom instilled in me the art of bargain hunting and let me tell you, it saves you from finding that beautiful pair of jeans only to find out it will cost you an arm and a leg. But I completely understand where you’re coming from! When I bought a bathing suit this year, before we went I told my Mom, “Let’s pray because you know how hard it is to find a bathing suit that A.) Fits in all the right places and B.) Doesn’t cost a million dollars.” Well, praise the Lord, the suit I bought ended up being the first one (I think, anyway). God is good! Lol! 😀

Nothing is impossible with God, Elaini! This $15k could be a breeze 🙂

Hahah! Yes this story is partly hypothetical and I do check price tags before I try things on… 🙂 So glad you found a swimsuit! 🙂

    Cute outfit

  4. Mandy H September 5, 2011 at 7:18 am #

I can totally relate. I do always check prices before I try on, but I know how it is to not be able to find a pair of jeans(or shorts or dress pants)… I love wearing dresses and skirts, and sometimes they do seem easier. But there are just some times when you need those jeans…I hope you find some, I know I have to go shopping for some soon, too. 🙁

And swimsuits have to be 2nd hardest!

    • misselaini September 6, 2011 at 1:14 am #

Yeah it can be quite a pain. And yes I check prices before I try on. 🙂
Still haven’t found anything that will work…

      • Mandy H September 7, 2011 at 6:23 am #

ahhhh, not fun! I like it when other people buy me clothes and sometimes I like hand-me-downs. But that is hard with jeans…

        • misselaini September 7, 2011 at 11:52 pm #

          I do too! 🙂

  5. Neris September 5, 2011 at 7:37 am #

that’s why I always check the price tag first; if they are too expensive I’m not even trying them on 🙂 otherwise, I might get tempted and that’s never good 🙂

Neris I check the price tag too but I was just being silly for the sake of the post. 😉 Although I always gravitate towards the most expensive pieces for some reason and when I look at the tag I do sigh.

I haven’t gone shopping for NEW items in such a long time that I have nearly forgotten what that is like. My suggestion is to see if you can find a really nice thrift or consignment store. We have 2 in my small Midwest town, and we can get really great brands with lightly used items for like $10. Talk about savings!

I have already given what I feel the freedom to give, but I am praying every day that the total will go up. And trying to post a link to your site when possible. You will make it yet! Because it is not just you, and not just the givers, it is God too.

    • misselaini September 6, 2011 at 1:22 am #

I love thrifting! That is usually what I do. I rarely buy things new. 🙂 Our thrift stores though are WAY overpriced… 🙁
Thank you for giving Grace! It makes such a difference. I’m mainly asking people to keep spreading the word so we can reach our goal faster. And yes it is in God’s hands! 🙂

  7. Emily September 5, 2011 at 9:02 am #

So true! 🙂 Only with me, usually the problem is that if everything else works, they’re not long enough. 😀 And I think I have yet to find a bathing suit that actually *fits* correctly. ~Emily

    • misselaini September 6, 2011 at 1:24 am #

Mine are usually to long! Hahha! Oh the joys of shopping…

    Dear Elaini,

That’s great! I’m happy that it isn’t an event for you. 🙂

  9. Sydney September 5, 2011 at 9:56 am #

Oh, wow, how timely! I’m going jean shopping today actually. *sigh* I’m odd, I’m the kind of girl who hates shopping to begin with, unless it’s a 2-minute trip. All that to say, I feel your pain so much with shopping for jeans or swimsuits…I put it off till the last minute each time. Add to it all that I’m 5’9″, so finding jeans that are long enough is frustrating. I try to notice the price tag first as well…def. saves time in the dressing room. Oh, well…

I gave a little while ago. I love seeing the updates! You’ll get there…praying!!

    • misselaini September 6, 2011 at 1:27 am #

Thanks for giving Sydney! I really appreciate it. 🙂 You are helping those sweet little children.
Yes there are definitely things that aren’t as enjoyable to shop for…
Hope you found something that works for you! 🙂

  10. RJ September 5, 2011 at 10:33 am #

Adorable outfit! I hate jean shopping too btw. I have a 26″ waist and then I have 36″ hips, so um, it’s kinda hard to find jeans that fit just right without looking like “hot” pants. :/

    • Grace September 5, 2011 at 6:42 pm #

Wouldn’t life be easier on everyone if the fashion was just to go around in a burlap sack or something? It wouldn’t matter what your size or height, or whether or not it looked good on you. You would just buy your sack and be done with it. 😉

Somehow I don’t think people would go for that, too bad.

      • misselaini September 6, 2011 at 1:32 am #

Grace your comment gave me a good laugh! Yes it would be easier but probably a bit boring. 🙂

    • misselaini September 6, 2011 at 1:28 am #

Thanks! RJ I hear ya. I have similar sizes and I know exactly what you are taking about! You’re not alone. They really should make jeans with more body types in mind… 🙂

  11. Elizabeth September 5, 2011 at 6:56 pm #

Jean shopping is horrible! My favorite pairs were a) hand-me-downs or b) from the clearance. However I’ve lost weight so now I need to take some of them in… thank goodness I know alterations, it’s the only think that makes clothes shopping at all bearable!

    • misselaini September 6, 2011 at 1:33 am #

      I need your alteration skills!!!

  12. Sarah September 6, 2011 at 7:27 am #

    I LOVE your dress!!!
I totally agree with your shopping thing…. I am pretty short for my age, so its always like “Should I check in the juniors section or the girls?” Yet nothing seems to fit like I want…. And, swimsuits!! I have officially given up looking for them. sigh…

    • misselaini September 7, 2011 at 12:46 am #

Thanks! Yes it can be so difficult. Maybe that’s why people used to sew more. 😉

      • M.J.A. September 7, 2011 at 11:44 am #

It’s a good idea! Then it will probably fit!

BEWARE: If you shop at a store for two pairs of jeans EXACTLY the same (same brand, size, color, cut, everything!), try on BOTH pairs. There’s a chance that they won’t be the same size.
I went jean shopping. And the thing above happened to me. I took in different sizes. Ok, one fit. I took in another pair of jeans EXACTLY the same, and…they didn’t fit. I took in soooo many pairs of the same jeans. Some were to tight on my legs. Or in another place. Or way to big. What is up with jeans????
    ~M.J.A.

    • misselaini September 7, 2011 at 12:55 am #

haha! I have had that happen before too! Isn’t it odd…and frustrating? I have NO idea what is up with jeans. Jeans and I are frenimies. 😉 (friends/enemies)

      • M.J.A. September 7, 2011 at 11:47 am #

Yes, it is odd and VERY frustrating! Were you really up at 12:55 am? I was asleep. 🙂 I like your ring and your bracelets in this picture.

        • misselaini September 7, 2011 at 11:56 pm #

Yes actually…I was trying to talk with friends in Australia. The time difference is killer…
My brother brought me back that ring from India. 🙂

          • M.J.A. September 10, 2011 at 10:59 am #

My sister lived in Australia for 2 years (Did I already tell you that? My mind is going even before I reach oldness… Sigh…)

          • misselaini September 15, 2011 at 12:02 pm #

No I don’t think I new that, but that is wonderful. I kinda want to go live there…
And I hear ya on not remembering…my mind is going to… sigh. The velcro just isn’t sticking.
