{Day 109}

Have you ever wished your life was different?  That you were in someone else shoes?  That something went like this instead of that?  I think we have all been there at one point or another.  Last night I was struggling to remain content…it grieves me that I get to that point of discontent at times.  When I have been given so much why should I ask for more?  I am so blessed to have an amazing family and great support group and that is just the tip of the ice berg.  (A God who loves me!!!)  If there is anything that we should be discontent with it should be the suffering of others that we can alleviate.  If the blind could see they would say “LOOK”! If the deaf could hear they would say “LISTEN”! If the mute could talk they would say “SPEAK”!  If the lame could walk they would say “LEAP”!  What can you do with what you have been given?  What are you thankful for today?  Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. 🙂

    Ahhh…this seems to be an ever popular topic, nowadays. In a world where they tell us, “You have to have this or your life won’t be complete”, how do we remain content? It’s a question that I have struggled with and continue to struggle with. But one thing is for sure…as fashion changes and the world turns, Our Savior is forever the same! And He loves us!!!! 😀

    What a reason to be content! I pray that you, and everyone around us would find contentment in the simple fact that God loves us more than we could ever fathom.

    Speaking of which…I watched this video two days ago and it was of great encouragement! I’ll leave the link here for you or anyone else who wants to be reminded just how precious we are to God…

    “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” -Luke 12: 32-34

    One of the things that I have learned as I have struggled with contentment is that contentment springs from a truly grateful heart. If I am grateful for what God has given me the less I want what He hasn’t given me yet.

    Today, I am thankful for the way God has used you, Elaini, to encourage me. 🙂

    “fear not, for I am with you;
    be not dismayed, for I am your God;
    I will strengthen you, I will help you,
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
    – Isaiah 41:10

      Yes I agree. When I am grateful then I find contentment. Giving thanks for everything we have is directly opposite of being upset or discontent with what we have been given. Thank you for encouraging me today!

    Dear Elaini,
    I know how you feel sometimes I do wish I was someone else that I could switch lives surely then things would be perfect but I know no matter who I am my life won’t be perfect even if you were the girl next door who seems like she’s the most perfect person ever she’s rich and has all she could ever want but little do you know she wishes she were you! Yeah sometimes it seems impossible that your life is just falling apart abut Gods your hope he cares and he’s the light in the darkness. The blind can even have it better the the seeing the mute the talking the the crippled the walking because with Christ you have life!

      Hello Poem Girl! Yes the grass always looks greener on the other side but that is just a lie. May we be happy in Jesus and the life he gives! 🙂

    Oh, thank you so much for posting this! It was such an encouragement to me– to know that I’m not the only one who struggles with contentment, etc. I just find peace in this verse, “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.” (Proverbs 16:3)

    I am thankful for (sorry if this becomes a lengthy list):

    – a little buddy, who called me because he missed me (aww….)
    – my Grandma, who shares her struggles and laughs with me
    – my darling sisters, with whom I love to do activities. They are the best sista’s ever! 🙂
    – a healthy food co-op, where we can see friends
    – THE BIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!
    – GOD!!!!
    – blogs like this one

    Okay, I’d better stop there. I could go on forever. 😉

    Blessings,
    Johanna

    Great post, Elaini! Very good food for thought.

    What can I do with what I’ve been given?
    Love,
    Laugh,
    Smile,
    Hug,
    Dream,
    Serve,
    Speak,
    Write,
    And encourage.
    What am I thankful for this day?
    A camera to capture glimpse of beauty with,
    A family that loves me and I love bunches back,
    Encouraging words spoken in love,
    New insight,
    Crochet hooks,
    Technology to help with giving,
    And yarn- To name a few.
